Stressors

Happy Juneteenth Weekend! For those of you that do not know what this holiday is, let me explain before I discuss a new thought of the week. Juneteenth is to celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation in the U.S. and it was also the first day of freedom for African American slaves in Texas. It was a monuments' day for freedom in American, and then afterwards the freedom of slaves started to come into work. Another day of freedom in the U.S., I love America!

But following up from last weeks topic of physical intimacy. I hope you guys were able to understand what I was trying to deliver. It is a big topic that is often not spoken too much. Just keep it transparent between those that you love the most, if you need help or love.

This week we are going to be diving into the world of stressors. What is stress? What does stress look like? How often does stress happen? What contributes to stress? How do I get rid of stress?

Stress- "a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances" or "subject to pressure or tension"

Stress can appear in all sorts of forms, it can be both internal or external. Stress can appear on someone's appearance, how they carry themselves. Carrying themselves such as body language, tripping up on words, eyes, sleep deprived, or fidgeting. External stress comes from outside forces, such as job, family, children, politics, wars, pandemics, or traumas. While internal stresses can come from ourselves, most common stressors. But it mostly our own brains thinking over or under the different situations we may be in, later developing our own anxiety or stressors without any other cause.

Stress happens all the time, it can go in different forms. We can get stress when we are too busy or when we have too much free time. Stress happens when we are angry, tired, irritated, confused, and many more examples. It happens to often to all of us. I was reading an article about stress and how it talked about the average American a day feels stressed. The Gallup News had said, "About eight in 10 Americans say they frequently (44%) or sometimes (35%) encounter stress in their daily lives. Just 17% say they rarely feel stressed, while 4% say they never do." (Gallup, 2017). It is honestly kind of shocking to me that this many Americans are feeling this everyday in their lives, it is almost like something needs to happen.

Many, many, many times I have tried to take away my stress that happens to me. Everyone has different ways of trying to take away stress. Some people go on vacations, listen to music, talking it out, or just going to a happy place. For me some of my biggest stressors is finances, I think about it everyday because I am in college and I want to do payments on my own. I am still working on not to worry as much on it. But for me the best way for me to cope is listening to islander/reggae music or just going to a silent place. It helps me to stay focus and to feel good.

What ares ome your guys' stressors? How do you guys cope with stress? Sorry if I did not go into much detail about stress, but now you are better equipped to combat or recognize it.
